I've had a great making week but back to work tomorrow ! I set myself a challenge this week of making Beth's prom dress and two summer dresses for myself and I finished !!!! The dress is lovely I'm so pleased, it was hard work but looks beautiful and Beth will look fab in it. I'm not going to post a picture yet as I want to completely finish it. I just have to make some silvery butterflies to attach to the front instead of the ribbons and roses. It is view D and its in a lovely pink/lilac two tone taffeta. We decided not to put any net on the upper bodice, just on the skirt.
The hardest part I found was attaching a net ruffle to the slip lining. There was so much to ruffle and then to get it at the right height half way up the skirt with the right amount of gathers drove me bananas but I got there in the end. I will post a photo soon when the butterflies are done. Here is the pattern image though. I started Tuesday and finished Friday night.
Saturday and Sunday were spent making my two summer dresses. I loved Beth's so much I made one for myself (although we have made an agreement not to wear matching dresses at the same - we are not that sad!). Then it was onto a Kaffe Fassett Millefiore Orange one. It looks beautiful as a shirred sundress.
My blog is in memory of my lovely cheeky little cockerel Denzil. (Named after one of my favourite actors) He died last autumn. I never thought a little chicken could have such a presence in our family life, but he did!
I really miss his crafty little visits into our house, watching him perch on the log basket in the kitchen and warming himself next to the fire or the sight of him running across the lawn when he heard me opening the back door on returning home from work. He loved a cuddle and a fuss and I have happy memories of him sat between my daughter and I, enjoying a spot of sun while we crafted away.
I work full time but enjoy making lots of things and hope to share this on my blog. I shall endeavour to post at least once a week and would be more than happy to share information, provide any help and to share lovely things and ideas that I come across.

Fancied a change!
I fancied a change after all my knitting. I'm nearly finished on my pink cardigan just finishing the main part and one more sleeve. It's taking me ages but will be worth it. I 'm still going to have loads of wool left so looked up a couple of crochet patterns to maybe use the remainder up.
I've also looked at Pom Pom rugs after my friend Angela told me about them. They look lovely I found one on google that looks like a fluffy marshmallow. I'm not sure I'd have the patience though for making all those Pom poms!
Anyway I've tried shirring for the first time. I bought some lovely feather fabric by MAKOWER and started it yesterday. I'm definitely hooked. I've made a summer dress for Beth, a nightie for myself using some Sarah Kay fabric I've had years and am now onto two little girl dresses. It's so rewarding and a bit compulsive!

I'm thinking of doing one for myself soon in some Kaffe Fassett fabric I found.
